Yoshihiko Masuda was born in Japan in 1946; joined Tokyo University CARP and the Unification Church in 1965; graduated from Tokyo University (B.Law) in 1972; moved to the United States in 1973 and worked for the Unification movement; graduated from the Unification Theological Seminary, Barrytown, NY in 1977, the Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley (MA) in 1980, and the University of Southern California (PhD in Social Ethics) in 1987; worked for the World Scripture Project at the International Religious Foundation in New York and taught part-time at the UTS, Barrytown, NY, 1987-1993; taught mainly Unification Ethics and Sociology of Religion at Sun Moon University, Korea, 1994-2003; Dean of the Graduate School of Theology, Sun Moon University, 1995-1999; taught True Parents Studies at CheongShim Graduate School of Theology, Korea, 2004-now.
He published books and numerous journal articles in the fields of Unification Ethics and Sociology of Religion in Japanese, in English, and in Korean. Some of his books are Touitsu Rinrigaku Kouza (Lectures on Unification ethics), 2 vols. Tongil Yunrihak Gangjwa (Lectures on Unification ethics), 2 vols., From Dependence and Independence towards Interdependence, True Love, Sex, and Health, and Makotono Ai-to Zettai Sei-to Kenkouhou (True love, abosolute sex, and health).
Prof. Masuda has received the Marriage Blessing (74 couples) in New York in 1977. He and his wife have 2 sons and 2 daughters. His wife ascended into Heaven due to stomach cancer in February 2010.
